Dragons and Knights both reach 4-0 as Austria’s AFL race tightens behind them

Danube Dragons and Vienna Knights are both 4-0 in the verified AFL table, with Vikings, Giants and Prague Black Panthers forming the next pressure group.

The Austrian Football League table now has two perfect teams, not one. ORF’s current AFL table lists Danube Dragons at 4-0 and Vienna Knights at 4-0, both at 1.000, with the Dragons first and the Knights second. The correction matters because it changes the story from “Dragons lead and Knights chase” to a genuine unbeaten race at the top.

The Dragons still own the cleaner defensive profile. Through four games they have scored 94 points and allowed only 27, including wins over Vienna Vikings, Raiders Tirol twice in the broader matchup cycle, and Prague Black Panthers. That 94-27 scoring line makes them the most balanced team in the standings and explains why they remain first even with the same record as the Knights.

The Knights, though, have forced themselves fully into the title conversation. Their 4-0 start includes 20-18 over Graz Giants, 36-15 and 48-34 over Raiders Tirol, and 34-15 over Salzburg Ducks. The 48-34 Innsbruck shootout is especially important because it was the delayed Week 1 game and moved the Knights from 3-0 to 4-0 in the table. It also gives them 138 points scored, the biggest attacking number in the league’s current standings context.

The rest of the AFL still matters. AFC Vienna Vikings are 3-1 and close enough that they can punish either unbeaten team later. Graz Giants and Prague Black Panthers are both 2-2, but they are very different profiles: Graz have already scored 105 points and look dangerous if they stabilize defensively, while Prague’s results show a team that can beat the middle but needs more offense against the top. Salzburg Ducks are 1-3 and need a turn quickly. Fehérvár Enthroners and Swarco Raiders Tirol are both 0-4, but their remaining games still affect the playoff race because every contender must avoid dropping a game against the bottom pair.

The factual scenario is now more interesting for every fan base. Dragons versus Knights on 6 June is the obvious headline if both keep winning, but Vikings, Giants and Black Panthers are not background characters. They are the teams that can either keep the race open or turn the top into a two-team sprint.
