Europe weekend roundup: Raiders shocked Frankfurt, Wrocław hit 62, and the BIG4 race got mean
The July 18-19 board had a real upset: Raiders Tirol stunned Frankfurt 61-41. Around it, Munich and Nordic clinched EFA control, Vienna stayed perfect in AFLE, Wrocław and Germany’s contenders delivered blowouts, and Britain produced the weekend’s best shootout.
Quick read
The July 18-19 weekend was a useful reminder that European football tables are never only about the teams at the top. Munich Ravens and Nordic Storm did what favourites are supposed to do in the European Football Alliance, but the weekend’s sharpest headline came from the bottom: Raiders Tirol, winless before Saturday, went to Frankfurt and beat Galaxy 61-41. That single result kept Tirol mathematically alive, damaged Frankfurt’s playoff cushion, and made the final two EFA regular-season weeks much less tidy.
AFLE also gave the weekend a clear hierarchy check. Vienna Vikings beat Rhein Fire 28-16 to stay 8-0, Panthers Wrocław crushed Firenze Red Lions 62-0, Berlin Thunder handled Alpine Rams 40-17, and London Warriors won 44-23 at Paris Lights. In Germany, Potsdam Royals and Ravensburg Razorbacks turned road games into blowouts, while Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns had to work much harder in a 28-23 win over Pforzheim Wilddogs. Britain supplied the best scoreboard drama: Leicester Panthers 51, Black Country Steelers 46.

Also verified: South Dublin Panthers beat Northwest Vipers 60-6 in Ireland, Bristol Aztecs beat Wembley Stallions 39-0 in Britain, Kuopio Steelers beat Wasa Royals 17-0 in Finland, and Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns edged Pforzheim Wilddogs 28-23 in the GFL.
Biggest wins
Wrocław’s 62-0 shutout of Firenze was the cleanest AFLE statement. The official gamebook shows Panthers quarterback Jameson Wang completing 21 of 22 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns, with Michael Harley Jr. catching 11 passes for 155 yards and three scores. That is domination by margin and by efficiency. Firenze remain 0-7, while Wrocław stay close enough behind unbeaten Vienna to keep the top half honest.
The German blowouts were just as loud. Potsdam’s 61-0 win at Hildesheim and Ravensburg’s 66-8 win at Straubing both came from Football-Aktuell’s GFL results board. In Pigskin’s refreshed standings, Potsdam sit 7-1 with a massive point differential, while Ravensburg are 5-3 and still very relevant below the unbeaten Schwäbisch Hall and Dresden pace-setters. South Dublin’s 60-6 win over Northwest Vipers was another verified heavy result, though from Ireland’s Division One rather than its Premier Division.
Upset and stat leaders
Raiders Tirol own the week because the context was brutal: first win of the season, on the road, against a Frankfurt team still fighting for a BIG4 place. EFA’s recap gives the key numbers. Debuting quarterback Kenyatte Allen completed 30 of 31 passes for 408 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown. Aaron Jackson caught nine passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns, Tobias Bonatti rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Tim Tonko added two rushing scores.
Nordic Storm’s win in Paris was not an upset, but it was a playoff warning. Jadrian Clark threw for 384 yards and five touchdowns, Brendan Beaulieu caught 13 passes for 231 yards and three scores, and Storm’s defense held Paris to 174 total yards with eight sacks. That result clinched Nordic’s BIG4 ticket and left Paris at 3-5, suddenly under pressure from Prague and even Tirol.
Munich’s 48-12 win in Prague kept the Ravens perfect at 8-0. The Lions are 2-6, but the EFA table context matters: with Frankfurt and Paris both 3-5, Prague are not dead yet. They need help and wins, but the final two weeks still have a real lower-bracket race.
Movers and wider context
AFLE’s top line is simple: Vienna are 8-0 and still the standard. But the more interesting movement is underneath. Wrocław are 6-2, Rhein are 5-2, and Berlin plus London are both 4-4. That creates a clean second tier before Paris Lights, Alpine Rams and Firenze start running out of time.
In the EFA, Munich and Nordic have separated. The remaining story is who survives behind them: Frankfurt and Paris currently hold the last two BIG4 places at 3-5, Prague are one win back, and Raiders Tirol finally made their mathematical path less theoretical.
