EFA preview: six teams, one short season, no room for polite mistakes

EFA’s six-team 2026 sprint already has table pressure, unbeaten starters and very little room for “we are still building” speeches.

The quick read

Six-team team-owned professional league/alliance launching in 2026, with EFA’s own site stating “Six Teams. thirteen weeks. One Mission.” and published schedule reporting the six-team field. The current window is listed as May 15 – August 9, 2026 regular season; six teams; double round-robin across 13 weeks; playoffs from August 15–16 in Frankfurt, and Pigskin Europe has it marked as scheduled. Translation: this is live enough to matter, and organised enough that we can argue about it properly. EFA’s full 30-game 2026 regular-season schedule has been added to Pigskin Europe for Frankfurt Galaxy, Munich Ravens, Nordic Storm, Paris Musketeers, Prague Lions and Raiders Tirol. Week 1 opens May 15–17; Frankfurt hosts the playoff weekend on August 15–16.

The race right now

The table gives the preview its first shape: Nordic Storm 2-0 86:29, Paris Musketeers 2-0 51:29, Munich Ravens 1-0 58:30, Frankfurt Galaxy 0-1 20:21. Early records are not destiny, but they are very good at making everyone below the line pretend they are not checking tiebreakers before breakfast.

Why it matters

The wider context matters because European football is never just one table. Travel, roster depth, imports, youth pipelines and federation admin all show up eventually, usually around the exact moment a coach would prefer they did not.

What to watch

What to watch next: whether the leaders can make the season boring, and whether the chase group has the good manners to refuse. European Football Alliance has enough structure and story to deserve its own page, its own preview, and at least one sarcastic warning label.

That is why this one gets featured status here: it is not just another row in the directory, it is one of the leagues most likely to pull neutral readers into the wider European story.
